Who gets pole for the world is it the fastest lap between the two winners or is it out the hat
It is (wait for it, deep breath) the highest placing driver in the meeting final that finished in the top ten from either semi wins the inside for their semi!
Which is frankly rubbish. Hows about a match race between both semi winners after the meeting final???

very professional

drivers spend a lot of money on transponders why not use them and after the second semi GMP can announce who has pole

I suggested this to Paul Brown earlier in the year but he didnt seem very impressed! I think we should have the top 10 from semi 1, v's the top 10 from semi 2 in speedway style match races. Like the Scotland v England matches a couple of years ago. For every driver who dosnt want to take part, 1 point is awarded to the opposite team.
I like the razmatazz of a match race... I do miss the 1st starts inside 2nd start outside format of old.
What annoys me now is hat aftert a restart, someone who has less points can start higher than someone without!
Match races are a bit hit and a miss. In NZ they often have run-offs, but all it is is "you go first - no you go first" go slow until it's a ram fest. Personally, don't think F2's are built for that sort of racing.
I'd certainly put forward a suggestion that out of the two Semi race winners, whoever scored the most World Qualifying points should earn themselves the pole position for the World Final...either from the best scores format or in total. Either that or get serious about a National Points/Series and WQ format revamp!
a like the format it makes the meeting final that bit more interesting!! its confusing for a spectators point of view but its the best race of the nite normally!
Although it can be confusing the reasoning behind it is sound. It is an attempt to stop people racing the semi, qualifying and going home ,as their position in meeting final could affect starting position in the world. As for fastest lap what happens if it rains between semis!
When me and the Lampster were discussing it the other daym he suggested fastest lap on the day too...
Could there be a possibility that a second transponder could be setup down the back straight and do it like the cycle racing in velodromes where it becomes a pursuit????
So what happens then if none of the 20 qualifiers wants to race in the meeting final ie the all load up and go home??
Unlikely to happen. In fact if it does i can telll you who wins the world final that year. 1. Shergar 2. Lord Lucan 3. Gordon Moodie
