As the title states has anyone ever thought of a rear engined f2. Before I get shot down in flames as I dont know the regulations.
Would it be possible? would it work and would you like to see it?
No I dont watch grass trackers I just wondered if anyone had thought of it or tryed it in years gone by

From the first line of Chapter 15 of the Rule Book:

201. Definition:
A Formula Two stock car shall be a front engined, open wheeled, single seat car...

Hell man! what planet do you live on ? You shouldn't get shot down in flames , it should be with live ammo !!!

Well I've been informed that it was tried years ago while the superstox era in scotland and was quite quick but noone dared go near it as could you imagine hitting the old wire and post fence feet first

I think you're right, I'm sure it was tried back in the 70's, but I can't say for sure. It definitely rings some bells, though.

It could certainly be quick - look at GP midgets - but there's no way I would want to be going into the wall feet first with an engine and box right behind me. ph34r.gif

-edit-

In fact, didn't someone try a radically offset engine and box, too? I really should have paid more attention.

Dont the rules state " a front engined, rear wheel drive, with the engine set equally between the chassis plus or minus one inch " Not rocket science.

Chewy102- 07-24-2008
The Outlaw F2 type stox at Warton had a couple of rear engined cars a 3 or 4 years back.

Travelling Spectator- 07-25-2008
Yeah Ivor Greenwood had a off set engine and gearbox way back in 1975 which was sold to Wilf Blundell. Tony Norton also had one which he sold to Roy Goodman.

That's right - it was raced by Billy McCourt in the early 70s. I think Roy Wood also raced a rear engined superstox in England.
