We are hitting £1.25 a litre for diesel in some areas now, soon we will be faced with paying £1.50 a ltr.

Philip Hollsworth offered this good idea:

This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the 'don't buy petrol on a certain day campaign that was going around last April or May! The oil companies just laughed at that because they knew we wouldn't continue to hurt ourselves by refusing to buy petrol. It was more of an inconvenience to us than it was a problem for them. BUT, whoever thought of this idea, has come up with a plan that can really work.

Please read it and join in!

Now that the oil companies and the OPEC nations have conditioned us to think that the cost of a litre is CHEAP, we need to take aggressive action to teach them that BUYERS control the market place not sellers.

With the price of petrol going up more each day, we consumers need to take action. The only way we are going to see the price of petrol come down is if we hit someone in the pocket by not
purchasing their Petrol!

And we can do that WITHOUT hurting ourselves.

Here's the idea:

For the rest of this year DON'T purchase ANY petrol from the two biggest oil companies (which now are one), ESSO and BP.

It's easy to make this happen. Just forward this email, and buy your petrol at Shell, Asda,Tesco, Sainsburys, Morrisons Jet etc. i.e. boycott BP and Esso

If they are not selling any petrol, they will be inclined to reduce their prices.

If they reduce their prices, the other companies will have to follow suit.

But to have an impact we need to reach literally millions of Esso and BP petrol buyers. It's really simple to do!!

I am sending this note to a lot of people. If each of you send i t to at least ten more (30 x 10 = 300)... and those 300 send it to at least ten more (300 x 10 = 3,000) ... and so on, by the time the message reaches the sixth generation of people, we will have reached over THREE MILLION consumers! If those three million get excited and pass this on to ten friends each, then 30 million people will have been contacted! If it goes one level further, you guessed it... ..

THREE HUNDRED MILLION PEOPLE!!!

Again, all You have to do is send this to 10 people. That's all. (and not buy at ESSO/BP)

How long would all that take?

If each of us sends this email out to ten more people within one day of receipt, all 300 MILLION people could conceivably be contacted within the next 8days!!!

Acting together we can make a difference .

i think Mr. Hollsworth has got a point but he is missing the big point.

Gordon brown and his merry men put a whopping amount of tax on a litre of petrol so its him they need to target.

taken from BBc website from year 2000
"If a litre of unleaded petrol costs 85p, 21.7p will be the production costs and profit, around 51p will be duty and 12.5p will be VAT on top of all that."

so going on that 51p per litre duty tax in 2000 how much has the goverment put that up to now?

If you think, the goverment are losing tax through loss of ciggie sales as everone is quitting just like the goverment are try to do, but rather than lose out the poor motorist is stumping the lost revenue.

that plus the millions lost on a war we dont need every week

tooz fan- 05-25-2008
Asda,Tesco, Sainsburys, Morrisons all buy there own fuel from the two biggest sellers esso and bp.

mr bump- 05-25-2008
PLEASE remember, fuel IS CHEAP!!!, its the exise duty this basterd poxy labour sheit goverment puts on the litre of fuel that makes it expensive!!

Couldn't agree more.

Duty and VAT make up about 66% of the cost of petrol and diesel (I'm told)

For for talk sake, around Xmas both were around £1 a litre, so Gordon Brown made 66p a litre.
Diesel (where I live) is now £1.30 a litre, so around 86p goes to Gobshite Brown.
The government are cashing in on the increase in price to the tune of 20p a litre, if they dropped their percentage duty, they could still be making their 66p a litre they where at Xmas and we could be buying desiel at £1.10 a litre and keeping the cost down of every single item that needs transported to market. This subsequent price increases to a company forces them to put their prices up to get a product to market and the consumer gets shafted again on increased tax becuase of a higher RRP required to get a product to market.

The government can't control the price of crued oil, they can control the tax on fuel, but a drop in it doesn't suit becuase they'd reduce their potential duty intake and risk offending the all tree huggers.
There is an piece on the bbc news site about Carbon crediting, the next means of shafting the public, worth a look at if you want to be more screwed up!

You have to ask, where is it going to end up? We're going to end up with no industry becuase its cheaper to make everything elsewhere, no vehicles because no one can afford to run them, are we going to end up a 3rd world country, growing our own product and living in shanty towns becuase no one can afford heating oil (don't start me on that one!) to heat their houses?

well its 122.9 for diesel my way mad.gif

remember reading somewhere that due to the price increases the government got an extra £500 million since april 1st ohmy.gif

all that cash in basically 7-8 weeks nearly all of it from the fuel duty

One flaw in that, gypsies move around we can't afford the fuel to do that. Isn't it about time all these fat cat, well just fat farmers repaid all the over the top subsidies they have received from us in the past, Binnit
Don't worry Turtle, that Garage owner up the road from you still owes me £8k, so you might be seeing a lot of cheap diesel. I was almost sympathetic until he bought a new Volvo convertible which he couldn't cancel apparently , well that has been followed up with a new Discovery and now the Builders are in at home renewing his wet room. Look out for sparks flying in Lipson Vale.

So really then your motorshed is held in public ownership by all us good tax paying folk. As for Cabtec debt collection doesn't really look that scary does he. Thought I might tell them I would invite Peter Gilbert to one of their posh dinner parties, that might do the trick.

andrew830- 05-30-2008
sovvy i thought you property tycoons didnt pay tax you just send it offshore to your tax haven biggrin.gif as for the subsidy it is being phased out.before to long you will have to pay the real price for your food biggrin.gif
