I went practising at brum lastnight to try and sort this problem out, but to no avail
My car keeps cutting out under load about halfway down straight, it feels like it has turned itself off. By the time i am halfway round the corner the car comes back to life and then does it again down the back straight. I noticed lastnight that if i kept my foot planted on the pedal when it cuts out it wont come back to life, but if i take my foot off it will come back to life. When the car is stationary the engine runs and revs perfectly. I have done several things but it hasnt worked
Any help would be grateful thanks
Hi Hayden
Sounds to me, like your engine is not getting enough fuel for the complete straight.
This can be, if the fuel chamber in your carburettor is not adjusted right.
Maybe the floater which is inside there is bent, or damaged. Maybe the needle that the floater operates is not opening wide enough anymore.
Maybe the filter that is in front of the needle, inside the carb is dirty.
The level in this chamber should have the exact right height.
If the height is to low, you run out of fuel halfway the straight.
Just check it out, and if so, ask someone how high the level should be precisely.
regards Mark

What he said
Sounds unlikely to be anything else to be honest. Also worth checking that the fuel pump is working all the time, and has a good earth, I know of one driver who shall remain un-named but he knows who he is, who didn't have an earth and was mounted to the tank on a rubber mat. No earth = no circuit, no circuit = no working
had similar problem once, turned out to be the filter in the bottom of the fuel pump blocked (cylinderical, red top type pump)
I would just like to say thanks for the advice given, i have acquired a new fuel pump and have adjusted the float level. I will be back at brum next wednesday with my fingers crossed
what so we can stand around trying to work out whats wrong again if anyone is going to brum next week please feel free to come and have look or to give us some advice thanks

Ive had this before deffo will be your float levels.
you can guarantee it.
The car is now sorted, the problem was the fuel pump had lost some of its pressure and it wasn't supplying the carb quick enough. Thanks to everyone who helped.
