Can anyone out there help, I am trying to find final winners for the following meetings at the end of the 1993 season that were not listed or recorded in any magazines of the time.
21st November Buxton and Boston ( the last ever meeting )
28th November Bolton
26th December Bolton
27th November Northampton
1994 New Year dates
Hartlepool 2nd January
3rd January Buxton
Thanks in advance,
Carlton
Carlton
I assume for the Northampton meeting you mean 27 DECEMBER not November. That being the case I can help you with three of the dates:
21 November, Boston. Final: 203 Tony Smith; Heats: 344 Phil Woodhull, 203 Tony Smith; Cons: 335 Mark Woodhull.
28 November, Bolton. Final: 540 Andy Meek; Heats: 60 Brent Whitehead, 540, 540; NorthWest Handicap: 540.
27 December, Northampton. Final: 152 Mick Sworder; Heats: 742 Adam Brand, 742, 753 Andy Morris; All Comers: 582 John Martin.
Hope that helps.
Dave
Yes Dave I did !! Many thanks for the information, much appreciated again.
Scratch Buxton 21st November from the list, further research tonight by myself has found the meeting was cancelled due to heavy snow in the Buxton area.

I remember the Boston meeting was run in the snow, so it must have been bad up in the Derbyshire hills - I'm not surprised Buxton was cancelled. For the second half of the meeting at Boston the snow was falling thickly.
I must ask Tony Smith if he remembers it.

I remember commentating on those Bolton & Northampton meetings for you Dave when you videoed them! lol
Rob
Correct Rob - and do you remember a certain Long Eaton with K.N.? "It's the white flag!"
Hijacking Carlton's thread to take a quick walk down Memory Lane, I've just had a look at the programme for the last Boston meeting.
The following 47 drivers took part (how many of these do you remember?)
Whites:
541 Ian Bent
272 Stu Ogden
199 Craig Bird
55 Adrian Hutton
300 Andie Plant
558 Darren Gowshall
506 George Holland
718 Roger Goodliffe
44 Jim Bratt
93 Richard Dolman
338 Alan Cook
749 Simon Medley
554 Andy Gwinnett
798 Mark Sargent
317 Scotty McNeill
503 Rick Sutcliffe
673 Nigel Leavesley
688 Dave Griffin
739 Chris Sellars
211 Justin Cole
Yellows:
45 Dave Buckley
13 Andy Ford
344 Phil Woodhull
53 John Atkinson
21 Rob Bagley
259 Simon Farrington
746 Robert Shaw (or was it Bill Shaw?)
34 Scotty Scotland
177 Alan Skayman
203 Tony Smith
515 Alan Veall
615 Mick Harris
54 Martin Buckley
734 Ian Borchardt
Blues:
351 Alan Canham
196 Charlie Stubbs
335 Mark Woodhull
790 Mark Taylor
Reds:
944 Martin Briggs
655 Gary Newton
855 Steve Maidlow
H130 Toon Schut (not H30)
8 Darren Innocent
Superstars:
188 Simon Panton
252 Gary Chisholm
804 Ian King
167 Bill Batten (yes - on the shale and in the wet snow!)
I can remember racing at that Boston where it was thick with snow. Used to enjoy Boston only problem was if you blinked you were in the fence...or maybe that was just me! It was definitely 746 Billy Shaw not Robert.
Bolton Christmas 1993, weve got the commentator and the man who videoed the racing, but no final winners yet. Come on fellas, get your act together !!
Seeing as how 1993 was such a great year of racing, with plenty of Superstox converts, who was missed from the F2 scene most, Chisholm, Innocent, or Mickel ?

Rob was referring to the 28 November Bolton meeting (which he and I were both at) and for which I've given you the final winner.
I wasn't at the Christmas Bolton date (neither, I suspect was Rob) and can't help you with results.
Come on Carlton, get your reading glasses on!!!!
In answer to your second part - I certainly missed Gary Chisholm. He was like abreath of fresh air to the sport. He arrived (I'm pretty sure) as a blue top; was soon winning finals with some style - both on shale and tarmac, and then departed almost as quickly. He was very entertaining to watch.
John Mickel always struck me as a methodical racer. Car always well prepared, did a lot of meetings, but somehow was never quite on the pace of the likes of Batten and Speaky.

nice to see the drivers at the last boston meeting ,does any one know all the results? i can remember it was b....y freezing

All Comers: CANCELLED owing to it being b****y freezing and there was thick snow falling!!
BOSTON STADIUM - R.I.P.
Refering to your previous comments Dave, yes I know I should have gone to spec savers !!
Further good news, well to an anorack like me researching away like mad, tonight I unearthed the 2nd January 1994 Hartlepool final winner, so we can put a line through that one as well, for anyone interested it was Andy Morris 753.
As regards Chisholm, Mickel or Innocent, Gary Chisholm was without doubt the best stock car driver, in my opinion, any chance of getting him a drive in the Kitson hire car when Neal Smith has finished with it ?
I'm still after the Boxing day 1993 Bolton final winner in case anyone has been looking through their lofts the last week !!
